Liverpool will take a whole raft of positives from their convincing 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
The Reds had been expected to comfortably dispatch their opponents, having been drawn at home against a team from the fourth tier.
However, with Accrington pumped up for their first visit to Anfield since 1956, Liverpool still needed to get the job done.
In the end, they did it with something to spare. Goals from Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jayden Danns and a first Liverpool strike from Federico Chiesa delivered a resounding scoreline.
There was also a senior debut for Liverpool academy youngster Rio Ngumoha thrown in for good measure.
But on a day in which Ngumoha stole plenty of headlines, former Reds striker Robbie Fowler was keen to highlight the contribution from Danns.

Robbie Fowler hails Jayden Danns cameo
After a breakout campaign last year, Danns has been unlucky this time around.
His appearance from the bench in the 72nd minute on Saturday was just his second of the Arne Slot era.
But after Danns created and then scored Liverpool’s third goal of the day all by himself, it’s surely unlikely to be his last.
And speaking to ITV at full-time, Liverpool legend Fowler hailed what he’d seen from the 18-year-old, especially for his ‘brilliant’ goal.
“His attitude is brilliant,” Fowler raved. “I think he’s got a bit of everything in his armoury.
“What I love about him – and [Darwin] Nunez can learn something from this – he wants to get back into the box.”
“He wins the ball and he’s got an incredible appetite and desire to get in the box after he’s passed it because he knows something might happen, the ball might come back to you.
“Surely it does and he finishes it into the Kop end to get his third Liverpool goal.”
Danns sends reminder to Liverpool fans
Around this time last year, Danns was starting to come into the picture under Jurgen Klopp.
The young striker eventually made his debut towards the end of February. Saturday’s appearance was his seventh for the Liverpool first-team, and he’s now found the net three times.
| Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2023/24 | 5 | 2 | 0 |
| 2024/25 | 2 | 1 | 0 |
Having been injured throughout the early part of the campaign, some supporters may have forgotten just how good Danns was when breaking through in 2024.
With the spotlight on the likes of Ngumoha, though, the son of former footballer Neil sent a strong reminder against Accrington.
As a legendary former striker himself, Fowler knows a thing or two about what makes a good one. And Danns certainly has his stamp of approval.
