The January transfer window has only been open for 11 days, but a big transfer story involving Liverpool has already hit the mainstream media.
The Reds have been linked with a move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has thus far been unable to agree a contract extension with Napoli.
The 23-year-old is one of the most exciting talents in world football and it remains to be seen if Liverpool firm up their interest in him in the coming months.
And now, Fabrizio Romano has delivered a huge update on the Georgian international, who seems to have one foot out of the door in Naples.
Fabrizio Romano drops fresh update on Liverpool target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Kvaratskhelia’s contract expires in the summer of 2026 and with the forward unwilling to extend his deal, it remains likely that he will be sold in the coming days.
Earlier today, Antonio Conte confirmed that Kvaratskhelia has handed in a transfer request, which is a sign that he really wants to force through a move this month.
He said (quotes via Fabrizio Romano): “I tried to convince Kvaratskhelia to stay but he has decided to go and try a new chapter.
“The club and his agent will now find the solution… I can’t keep Kvara here if he doesn’t want to stay”.
PSG are leading the race for Kvaratskhelia, who have been in talks with the player, his agents and Napoli to work out an agreement since the start of the week.
And now, Romano has confirmed that the Ligue 1 giants have agreed a five-year deal with the Georgian, who is set to earn four times more than what is currently the case at Napoli.
However, PSG and Napoli are yet to agree a fee, with meetings set to be held next week to thrash out an agreement.
Romano wrote on X: “Paris Saint-Germain have agreed every term of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s contract for the next five years.
“The salary will be x4/5 his current one at Napoli. PSG are in negotiations with Napoli, as revealed here two days ago. New meeting next week to get it done.”
Liverpool running out of time to react
There were suggestions that Liverpool would follow the Luis Diaz example to sign Kvaratskhelia.
In January 2022, the Reds wanted Diaz from Porto but waited for Tottenham to do all the hard work and reach a full agreement with the club and the player, after which they pounced and swiftly snapped up the Colombian.
If they want to follow the same approach with the Georgian, they would need to react soon as the Ligue 1 giants have already made their move to secure his signature in January.
