Liverpool had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Manchester United on Sunday after delivering a below-par display.

The Reds had been expected to turn United over having started the game 23 points and 13 positions ahead of them.

However, games against their biggest rivals are rarely straightforward for Liverpool and so it proved at Anfield yet again.

Although plenty in the Liverpool squad failed to turn up on the day, it was a particularly bad showing for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold has been in the spotlight of late with Real Madrid pushing to sign him. And on this evidence, the right-back is halfway out the door.

Roy Keane tore into Alexander-Arnold at half time and according to journalist Lewis Steele, one Liverpool supporter was equally as angry with the 26-year-old.

Liverpool fan vents frustration at Alexander-Arnold

There’s no two ways about it, Alexander-Arnold was absolutely awful against United.

The eyes of the world were on the Liverpool academy graduate after the events of this week and what better stage than a game against the Reds’ primary rivals.

But Trent simply failed to turn up on Sunday. His loose pass led directly to Lisandro Martinez’s opener and United’s second arrived down his side as well.

While the second was bad, though, the first was a disaster.

It had been coming as well, and following the goal, Steele took to X to share what he’d heard from one Liverpool fan in the immediate aftermath.

“Fan just to the right of the press box shouts after that goal went in: “If you don’t wanna be here Trent, ____ off”.”

Answers needed after Alexander-Arnold horror show

Throughout his contract negotiations, Alexander-Arnold has been keen for things not to be played out in public.

However, his position as a starter for Liverpool is now verging on the untenable.

If this is a sign of things to come from him, then the Reds should seriously consider if Real Madrid make a new offer for Alexander-Arnold.

Questions will be asked both in public and in private of Trent, and it’s about time Liverpool fans got some answers.
