Mohamed Salah is making headlines for Liverpool on and off the pitch as his name continues to dominate the back pages.
With 13 goals and eight assists in the Premier League this season, the Egyptian has been in a league of his own in terms of attackers and has spearheaded Liverpool to the top of the table.
Off the pitch, all the talk about his contract doesn’t seem like dying down soon as he is no closer to extending his deal at Anfield.
Salah recently said he was disappointed with Liverpool as they haven’t offered him a contract.
And now, with time running out, he has made his intentions clear to the Reds’ hierarchy.
Mohamed Salah wants two year extension at Liverpool

With Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also entering the last few months of their contract, the Reds have their work cut out for them to retain arguably three of their most important players.
Van Dijk is now likely to remain at Liverpool despite rejecting a contract proposal earlier this year, but the Egyptian’s situation is a bit more complicated.
Earlier this week, there were suggestions that Salah will be ready to accept a one-year extension from Liverpool.
However, TEAMtalk have put those claims to bed, confirming that Salah has asked the Liverpool hierarchy for a two-year contract at Anfield.
The report also states that his ‘great dream’ is to one day win the Ballon d’Or and feels his chances of doing so are greater if he remains in Europe as opposed to moving to Saudi Arabia.
Salah is believed to be ‘positively stimulated’ by Slot’s arrival, which isn’t hard to believe considering his current form.
Salah’s stats this season
Slot praised Salah for his performance against Newcastle and hoped the Egyptian could carry on in the same vein for a ‘long’ time at Anfield, which could be a sign that a new contract is on the cards.
| Mo Salah stats | Apps | Goals | Assists | Mins played |
| Premier League | 14 | 13 | 8 | 1.230′ |
| UEFA Champions League | 5 | 1 | 4 | 423′ |
| EFL Cup | 2 | 1 | – | 50′ |
His stats this season prove there isn’t a better player than him in his position in world football and Liverpool – as a club that invests so much into data – will certainly be aware of that.
It remains to be seen how this saga pans out, but the Reds are certainly running out of time to tie down the gifted attacker for the long haul.
