Liverpool have enjoyed a terrific start the season as they look down on the rest of the Premier League.
The Reds currently sit top of the table having won nine out of 11 matches in the division and have also maintained a run of four wins out of four in the Champions League.
Quite rightly, Arne Slot has seen plenty of praise come his way for the manner in which he has hit the ground running at Anfield.
So far, virtually every decision Slot has made has turned out to be a good one.
In general, most of those calls have been popular ones. Turning Ryan Gravenberch into the best No.6 in the country, for example, or choosing to reinstall Ibrahima Konate as Liverpool’s second starting centre-back.
But it’s fair to say that Slot’s decision to send both Stefan Bajcetic and Ben Doak out on-loan at the end of transfer window caused a bit of angst amongst supporters. Thee months on, though, and the Liverpool head coach has been proven right once again.

Arne Slot proven right on Ben Doak and Stefan Bajcetic
After Liverpool chose not to pursue an alternative to Martin Zubimendi over the summer, it felt like they might be leaving themselves short in midfield as it is.
But when it also emerged that Slot was willing to allow Bajcetic to leave on-loan, some supporters were worried.
Bajcetic is seen as one of Liverpool’s best young players and his playing style is also virtually exactly what Slot wants from his deeper-lying midfielders. Nevertheless, the 20-year-old was packed off to RB Salzburg for the season. Controversial.
However, Bajcetic gave an interview to Marca this week in which he admitted that he was now getting the minutes he badly needed.
“After such a long injury I need to play,” Bajcetic told the Spanish outlet. “I made the decision to go to Salzburg because I thought I was going to get minutes and I’m getting them.” That would not have happened at Liverpool.

Doak is another who is also getting crucial game time with Middlesbrough. The 19-year-old has put in some brilliant performances and has quickly become a fixture in Michael Carrick’s side.
As with Bajcetic, plenty of fans were disappointed at seeing Doak shipped off given that he could easily have helped out here and there with the first-team Liverpool squad.
And while the flying winger may have featured somewhat given the injuries to Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota, the Reds have managed fine without him while he tears it up in the Championship.
Liverpool won’t recall Ben Doak
Doak is the man of the moment after shining for Scotland during their 1-0 win over Croatia on Friday.
The way Doak toyed with Josko Gvardiol will live long in the memory and has catapulted the youngster into the spotlight once again.
And Rousing The Kop understands that Doak’s impressive form has led to enquiries from a number of Premier League clubs over a loan in the New Year.
| Appearances | Minutes | Starts | Goals | Assists | |
| Ben Doak | 10 | 688 | 8 | 1 | 3 |
| Stefan Bajcetic | 11 | 551 | 6 | – | – |
Liverpool have a recall option in Doak’s loan contract at Middlesbrough and would have the option to bring the Scotsman back before sending him out to a team in the top division.
However, RTK understands that Liverpool are happy with the progress Doak is making at Boro and are not looking to go down a different route.
As things stand, it’s understood that Doak will remain at the Riverside Stadium for the full season.
