Arne Slot has been able to get a good look at some of Liverpool’s most promising young players this pre-season.
Owing to a lot of the seniors being away on extended breaks, the Dutchman has been forced to field more youngsters than he perhaps would have liked this summer.
While Slot would have no doubt liked the time to have worked with more members of his first-team squad, though, it’s never a bad thing for a new head coach to get to know the stars in his academy.
For Liverpool, that amounts to quite a number of players. The Reds have a host of talents coming through who could be of use to Slot next season.
Some of those are more ready for permanent roles than others, and one 19-year-old is now said to be impressing staff at Anfield.

Liverpool have high hopes for Stefan Bajcetic
The last four weeks or so of the transfer window are likely to teach us a lot about how Slot has viewed the youngsters at his disposal this summer.
Some will likely be heading for loan deals while others could even be sold. For those that stick around, though, maybe they’ll soon find themselves part of the 45-year-old’s plans.
One player who that is sure to apply to is Stefan Bajcetic. The midfielder has had a tough time with injuries over the past 18 months but his quality is clear to see.
Slot spoke about Bajcetic following the friendly win over Real Betis in July and it’s clear that the 19-year-old is very much on his radar.

And according to journalist Graeme Bailey, the Reds have earmarked Bajcetic for a big role in the senior side.
With Liverpool preparing to accelerate in the transfer market, Bailey tells Rousing The Kop that they are keen not to block the Spain U21 international’s path to the first-team as they do so.
“The club are talking Bajcetic up, they know what a talent he is,” says the reporter. “He’s had a little bit of pre-season to bring him back in slowly and he’s looked very good by all accounts.
“He’s a class act and I do know they don’t want to block his way into the team massively,” Bailey adds. “If he is as good as they believe, he’ll be like a new signing.”
Stefan Bajcetic earmarked for big role
While Bajcetic clearly has the quality to one day be a starter for Liverpool, caution should be exercised here as well.
These are the same kinds of noises that were coming out of the club last season. Liverpool thought Bajcetic could be the answer at No.6 at so didn’t enter the market early enough for a player in that position.
As it turned out, injuries restricted Stefan to just three appearances all campaign. It has been a long road back for the former Celta Vigo prospect and he should be slowly eased in.
Some don’t think that will be the case, though. Liverpool legend John Barnes thinks Bajcetic is set for a big role in the squad next season and is again the reason why the Reds won’t strengthen in defensive midfield.
Quite whether that turns out to be true or not we’ll have to wait and see. But it’s good to hear that Liverpool are still fully backing Bajcetic to fulfil his potential at Anfield.
