Arne Slot was appointed Liverpool manager this summer, and it’s safe to say that the Dutch coach has been quite the hit on Merseyside.

Superstar Mohamed Salah crowned Liverpool’s fittest player

Speaking to the press after yesterday’s win against Aston Villa, Slot revealed that Mohamed Salah came out as Liverpool’s fittest player over the summer, with the 32-year-old topping all the tests in pre-season training.

The £34m attacker has again been exceptional this season for the Reds, with Liverpool fans unveiling a banner urging FSG to award Salah a new contract as the winger scored and assisted against Villa last night, and Slot has been more than impressed with the Egyptian international.

“All of our attackers score a lot of goals, but Mo stands out. That’s clear. Ten goals, so many assists, so it is pleasing to have him where he is at the moment, and it’s not a coincidence because the first day I arrived over here, we did a fitness test and he was our fittest player.

“So it tells you what his plans were for the season. It also tells you a player that has so many great seasons at a club like this comes back like that tells you a lot about his personality.”

Salah is ending his Liverpool career on a high this season

With Saudi Arabia more intent than ever on signing Salah, there’s a real chance that this season will be the winger’s last on Merseyside after seven incredible years with the Premier League giants.

And with Salah hitting double digits already in goals and assists in all competitions, the forward is in the type of form that makes defenders shake in their boots with fear, with the Liverpool no. 11 in the form of his life.

Indeed, Alexis Mac Allister lauded Salah as a Liverpool legend after last night’s win against Villa, and the Egyptian will go down as just that if the winger can lead the Reds to silverware this season.
