Liverpool have navigated a slightly sticky period with their forward line exceptionally well recently.

Having signed Federico Chiesa just before the transfer deadline, the Reds went into the season with six top attackers.

But with Chiesa since ravaged by injury and Diogo Jota also missing a chunk of games, Arne Slot has had to dig deep for Liverpool.

The absence of Chiesa and Jota has shone a light on the fact that the options within the Liverpool squad are not quite as plentiful as first thought.

As a result, there have been claims that the Reds could be in the market for a new attacker in the coming transfer windows.

Perhaps the strongest name linked so far has been Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush. In Europa League action against Slavia Prague on Thursday night, Marmoush underlined his credentials with a wonderful goal.

Omar Marmoush hits ‘out of this world’ free-kick

Marmoush has been on fire for Eintracht this season. After hitting the winner against Slavia, the Egyptian has now scored 13 goals in 15 games.

On the back of his red-hot form, it has been claimed that Liverpool have made contact with Marmoush over a potential move to Anfield.

As they look for a more clinical central striker, there have been suggestions that Marmoush could replace Darwin Nunez for the Reds.

And if his scoring streak hadn’t already caught the attention of the world, then Marmoush’s goal on Thursday will make it really sit up and take note.

The 25-year-old seems to have every kind of finish in his book and the one that won Thursday’s game was a quite brilliant long-range free-kick.

“What a free-kick from Omar Marmoush! Just too good for Kinsky,” raved the commentator for TNT Sports. “Placement, perfect with a capital P. His season is just getting better and better and better, that is unbelievable.

“Truly, in terms of where you want to put the ball it couldn’t be any better. Out of this world from Omar Marmoush. Frankfurt on its feet for the golden boy. The indispensable Pharoah does it again.”

Liverpool have other options than Omar Marmoush

What a season Marmoush is having. The question for Liverpool’s recruitment team will be whether this is a sign of the Egypt international showing he’s ready for a step up, or is it simply a flash in the pan?

There’s no easy way to know that, but anybody watching Marmoush cannot help but have been impressed this term.

Nevertheless, Rousing The Kop understands that Liverpool are not putting all their eggs in the Marmoush basket.

The Eintracht man is of interest to the Reds, but it’s understood that forwards such as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nico Williams may be higher on Liverpool’s should come on the market.

Keep this kind of level up, though, and Marmoush will become difficult to ignore.
