Liverpool have made the first move to sign £50m Bundesliga player with ‘blistering pace’

Liverpool already appear to be looking ahead to bolstering their squad in the January transfer window.

The Reds have made a brilliant start to the campaign under Arne Slot and look like potential Premier League title challengers.

Nevertheless, the Liverpool squad remains ever so slightly thin after an incredibly quiet summer.

Liverpool added only Federico Chiesa when it looked like a new midfielder or defensive addition might have been more necessary.

Since the window closed in August, there have been numerous links to players in both positions.

However, the strongest rumours so far have linked Liverpool with Omar Marmoush, the Eintracht Frankfurt forward. And according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, contact between the parties has already been made.

Liverpool pushing ahead for Omar Marmoush

Marmoush has been in ridiculously good form for Eintracht this season.

After seven Bundesliga games the 25-year-old has nine goals and four assists. He has been lethal. According to manager Dino Topmoller, Marmoush has ‘blistering pace,’ too.

This form and these attributes have led to claims that Liverpool are looking at Marmoush as a potential Darwin Nunez replacement.

And taking to X on Friday evening, Plettenberg reported that the Reds have already sounded out an incredibly keen Marmoush about joining.

“Eintracht Frankfurt are currently demanding a transfer fee of between €50-60m [£42-50m] for Omar Marmoush,” he says.

“Liverpool is indeed a serious option. The interest is real, and there has already been contact between the player’s camp and LFC. SGE are aware of it.

“Marmoush dreams of a move to the Premier League and would immediately agree to join Liverpool.”

Graeme Bailey weighs in on Omar Marmoush claims

While some are claiming that Marmoush is a genuine option for Liverpool, journalist Graeme Bailey has cooled talk of any imminent arrival.

Speaking exclusively to Rousing The Kop, Bailey says that although the Reds certainly have Marmoush on their radar, he is not a priority target at the moment.

“I think they’re aware of him, obviously he’s having a wonderful season,” says the reporter. “I don’t think he’s particularly higher or lower than any others who Liverpool are assessing. I think I’d put him in the ‘assessing’ category.

“He’s on the radar and they’re doing their due diligence on Europe’s top players and he’s one of them. But I’m told that Frankfurt won’t be letting him go in January.”
