Liverpool are steadily running out of time as they look to retain three of their most important players.
While things have been going swimmingly for the Reds on the pitch this season, they do have a situation brewing off it.
As the days tick by, Liverpool seem no closer to a resolution for the contract standoffs with Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
All three have, as usual, been very important to the Reds this term, with Van Dijk and Salah possibly Liverpool’s two star performers so far.
Salah in particular has been especially good. The Egyptian showed his worth yet again on Saturday, curling home a beautiful finish which saw Liverpool beat Brighton.
And as Salah continues to put pressure on the Liverpool owners to make a decision, Barcelona are now reportedly right back in the picture to sign him.

Barcelona back in the hunt for Mohamed Salah
At this point, there is relatively little excuse for Liverpool not to get things sorted with Salah.
The 32-year-old is still quite clearly one of the best players around in his position.
For the Reds to allow a player like that to walk away for nothing would be negligible. To let him join another European heavyweight would be downright foolish.
But while the links with Salah moving to Saudi Arabia continue apace, Spanish outlet Sport report that the option of joining Barcelona could now be back on the table for Mo.

They report that Barca have looked at signing Salah twice before, in 2021 and 2022. However, with the winger under contract at Liverpool, it is said to have been ‘impossible’ financially to sign him.
As Salah would be out of contract this summer, that is seemingly no longer an issue. A move to the Camp Nou in 2025 is described as being ‘feasible’ from a financial standpoint.
Furthermore, it’s claimed that Salah himself is ‘open’ to the transfer, while the same word is used to describe the relationship between Liverpool’s Egyptian King and the Catalan club. Barca’s priority is reportedly still Nico Williams, but Salah has crept back onto their radar.
Barcelona interest no surprise
This should be a worry for Liverpool. Interest from Saudi Arabia is one thing, but big European sides wanting to sign Salah is quite another.
From his form so far this season, it is quite clear that Mo is not done playing at the top level. Salah has been ‘unbelievable.’
He will know that himself and if Liverpool are unable to come to an agreement over an extension with him, then someone else will.
From a Reds point of view, that will be incredibly disappointing. But, if they don’t see a 32-year-old Salah as a viable investment, then we’d rather he headed to Barca than stayed in the Premier League.
