Arne Slot continued his strong start to life in the Liverpool dugout with a 2-1 victory against Brighton.
Anfield hosted the Premier League clash, where Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah scored for Liverpool after Ferdi Kadioglu opened the scoring for the Seagulls.
Slot wanted more intensity after his side went 1-0 down, with Virgil van Dijk leading the charge as the Reds completed a fine comeback.
The Anfield crowd were instrumental in the win, with the Liverpool supporters creating a superb atmosphere on Merseyside.
In an added boost to Slot and his players, defending champions Man City and title challengers Arsenal both lost.

Liverpool told to keep ‘instrumental’ Curtis Jones fit
The latest results mean the Reds are two points clear at the top of the Premier League table, with eight wins from 10.
But according to Tony Cascarino, Pep Guardiola’s side are still the title favourites, although he is confident Liverpool won’t be short of goals thanks to the likes of Salah, Darwin Nunez, Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.
“I think City are the team to beat,” he said on talkSPORT. “What I love about Liverpool is that I know that their forward line against any opposition can score goals, that gives Liverpool a chance. Because from Diaz to Salah to Jota, Nunez if he comes off the bench, Gakpo, there’s goals.

“Liverpool are not going to be short on the goals tally to win the league. I think defensively, slightly different. I’m still not convinced that the midfield is absolutely spot on. Hope Curtis Jones can stay fit and really play a big part, because I do think he’s instrumental to the sort of new era of midfield at Liverpool.
“So yeah, there’s lots of great things. I do think the goals column is going to be fine. People say, look, their goals against column is great as well, which it is, but I do think that they’re going to have to be absolutely at their best in that area.”
Curtis Jones forces his way into contention under Arne Slot
Jones was always going to play an important role under Slot this season given the need for rotation across all competitions.
But the midfielder was definitely not in the club’s first-choice midfield when the first whistle went, with that honour falling to Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Jones has, however, very impressively fought his way into contention with a number of strong displays, both offensively and defensively.

The former area has been particularly evident of late, with the academy graduate scoring and assisting against Chelsea, before another assist against Brighton.
It was his introduction, along with Diaz, that changed the game against the Seagulls at Anfield, with a start very much on the cards against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
