Liverpool manager Arne Slot continued his dream start to life in the Anfield dugout with an important 2-1 win against Brighton.

Slot praised the Anfield crowd following the Premier League win, which moved Liverpool back to the top of the table.

The Reds were, of course, helped by defeats for Man City and Arsenal, who lost to Newcastle United and Bournemouth respectively.

Liverpool are now two points clear of Man City, with Slot having won eight of his 10 Premier League matches in charge.

Mohamed Salah scored a superb winner for the home side at Anfield, with Cody Gakpo also on target after Brighton went ahead through Ferdi Kadioglu.

Joe Hart suggests what Arne Slot said to his players at half-time vs Brighton

The home supporters were key to the three points, but so was Slot, who introduced Curtis Jones and Luis Diaz moments before Liverpool’s two goals.

The substitutions were praised by Joe Hart, who said on BBC Match of the Day: “As it is, they are only 1-0 up, Arne Slot is able to get into his team at half-time, make some changes.

“Clear message from Jones and Diaz. 30 seconds into their arrival on the pitch, intensity, intensity, one press, two press, counter press, they’re not giving Brighton a moment.

“Brighton are having to work for every yard in this second half of the game. These are the 50-50s Liverpool weren’t winning in the first half.

The pundit continued: “That half-time Arne Slot team-talk wasn’t necessarily tactical, it was about intensity.”

Arne Slot makes fantastic Liverpool substitutions at Anfield

There can be very few complaints from the Liverpool supporters, who once again saw the fighting spirit that has been instilled by Slot.

Perhaps the only downside was, however, the loss of Ibrahima Konate, who was forced off at half-time with an injury.

But his replacement Joe Gomez was outstanding at the back, keeping a clean sheet in the second half alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Moreover, his fellow substitutions Jones and Diaz certainly changed the game, while even Wataru Endo and Conor Bradley made very positive impacts when they came on.

It proves that it is a real squad effort that is taking place at Anfield this season, with Slot now needing to manage his players once more when Bayer Leverkusen visit Merseyside on Tuesday.
