Liverpool face Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow in what could be one of the most entertaining matches of the UEFA Champions League this season.

The two sides are unbeaten in Europe with Arne Slot’s Liverpool in the top-eight for the Champions League league phase, with Xabi Alonso’s side also impressing in their comeback year in the continent’s premier club competition.

The Reds faced a potential injury scare with Ibrahima Konate on Saturday, though, as the defender was forced off with an arm injury in Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion, with Joe Gomez coming on for the France international.

And Slot has now shared if Konate is fit enough to play for Liverpool against Leverkusen.

Konate ‘available’ for Liverpool tomorrow vs Bayer Leverkusen

Speaking to the press, the Dutch manager announced that Konate will be available for Liverpool to face Leverkusen, news that will be viewed as a big update for the Reds heading into tomorrow’s match.

Slot said: “He’s available to play and I think he’s completely recovered. There is no issue for him not to play, not because of what he had, so it’s up to me if he plays or not, but he’s in a good place.”

With Konate sharing on Instagram a promising message that his injury was not serious coupled with the Liverpool defender taking part in training today, it’s perhaps no real surprise that the former RB Leipzig star is available to face Leverkusen tomorrow.

And with Aston Villa coming up on the weekend for the Reds, Liverpool will be keen to ensure that Konate remains fit for Saturday’s huge Premier League tie, with the Anfield giants reaching a key part of the season.

How important is Konate’s availability for Liverpool this month?

Konate’s injury record is hardly the best, with the Liverpool defender finding himself out on the treatment table more often than most centre-backs, a frustrating trait with the Frenchman’s fitness.

And as per Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League ties, Konate being fully fit is huge for the Anfield side, who will want every first-team player available for some big games against the likes of Villa, Manchester City and Everton.

Konate’s being fit for tomorrow’s tie is big for Liverpool, and the Reds will be hopeful that the defender can remain fit this winter with some many important games on the horizon.
