Arne Slot gives honest opinion about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool career so far

Trent Alexander-Arnold has come through the ranks from the Liverpool academy to become one of the biggest matchwinners in world football.

Since making his debut as a fresh-faced teenager under Jurgen Klopp in 2016, the boyhood Scouser has developed with each passing season and has made the right-back spot his own at the club.

Alexander-Arnold’s defending has often come under scrutiny and it goes without saying that he can certainly improve in that regard, but his ability on the ball is second to none in world football.

He has continued his rich vein of form under Arne Slot and looks set to be a key player for the Dutchman as Liverpool look to compete on all fronts this season.

And the new Reds manager has shared exactly what he thinks about the 26-year-old.

Arne Slot says Trent Alexander-Arnold is really special

When asked by Amazon Prime Video to name his best UEFA Champions League, Slot picked Alexander-Arnold as his right-back while also naming Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard in his XI.

Speaking about the 26-year-old, Slot mentioned how special it is for a boyhood Scouser to come through the ranks at the academy and reach the highs of winning the Champions League, a feat Alexander-Arnold achieved in 2019.

“I am going to go for Trent Alexander-Arnold in the right full-back position for obvious reasons, I think.

“He has been so special for Liverpool in all these years. He came from the academy, winning the Champions League at this club.”

What does the future hold for Alexander-Arnold?

With his contract running out at the end of the current season, Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Darren Bent says he heard from a reputed journalist that Real Madrid won’t make a move for Alexander-Arnold as they already have Dani Carvajal.

However, the Spaniard’s recent season-ending ACL injury coupled with his age could force them to reconsider their season.
