Liverpool chiefs have finally made moves in securing the services of one player for the long term future with Jarell Quansah’s new deal.

Quansah has committed his future to Liverpool, with the 21-year-old defender signing a long-term contract at Anfield.

His fellow centre-back Ibrahima Konate is also nearing a new contract, with the powers that be on Merseyside clearly impressed by what they have seen from the defensive duo.

Virgil van Dijk has helped Konate get back to his best, with the pair forming a formidable partnership under Arne Slot this season.

The Liverpool captain also looks back to his old self, with the Reds proving very hard to get past at the back.

Liverpool fans in agreement after new Jarell Quansah contract

Quansah’s new deal has certainly got a lot of Liverpool fans excited, but at the same time the club have been urged to now focus on contract extensions for those nearing the end of their current deals.

One fan took to X to plead for Mohamed Salah, Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold to be next in line, writing: “Salah, Virgil and Trent to be announced before end of November kindly bookmark this.”

A second Liverpool fan concurred: “Great, now get Trent, Salah and Virg to sign new deals,” with a third agreeing: “What about Trent, Salah and VVD?”

Other fans wrote: “Don’t care if Salah and Trent are not given a deal of their lifetime,” and “So we’re getting all the smaller contracts out of the way for the 3 biguns to be done at once.”

Along with new deals for the star trio, a new contract for Konate has also been called for, with one fan saying: “Next please: Trent… 5 years, VVD… 2/3 years, MO… 2 years, Ibou… 5 years.”

Another agreed: “MASSIVE news. Well done to our board. 1/5 done. Ibou, Trent, Salah and Van Dijk are next.”

Jarell Quansah signs new Liverpool deal despite Arne Slot decision

The consensus about the excitement over Quansah is certainly understandable, even with the youngster having been largely ignored by Slot this season.

He was entrusted from the very start alongside Van Dijk, but was withdrawn by his boss at half-time against Ipswich Town.

Konate came in for the youngster at Portman Road on the first day of the season, and neither he nor Slot have looked back since.

But with the busy schedule comes the need to rotate, meaning Quansah should still play a big part this season.

There is, however, also an understandable urge from Liverpool fans to get the likes of Salah, Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold and Konate to join Quansah in extending their time at Anfield.
