Liverpool are just one point behind Man City at the top of the Premier League table after beating Bournemouth 3-0.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz impressed for Liverpool, with the latter netting a first-half brace at Anfield.

Darwin Nunez was also on target, with the Uruguayan scoring a fine goal on his first start under Arne Slot.

Slot has suggested Nunez will start against West Ham next time out, with the two clubs meeting in the League Cup on Wednesday.

Anfield once again plays host, with the Merseyside club having beaten the Cherries on home soil last time out.

Alan Shearer impressed by three Liverpool players in win vs Bournemouth

It was another fantastic team display from Liverpool, who got back to winning ways in the league after the shock 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Pundit Alan Shearer did, however, save his praise for three of Slot’s players when naming his Premier League Team of the Week.

Included at the back was Alexander-Arnold, with Shearer noting: “Solid defensively and produced a surging run and perfectly weighted pass to assist Luis Diaz’s second goal.”

Ryan Gravenberch also made the cut: “Instrumental in Liverpool’s midfield. He’s adapted really well to a more defensive role under Arne Slot.”

And Diaz also got a mention, with Shearer saying: “He’s becoming one of Liverpool’s go-to players, scoring two goals in quick succession to secure the victory over Bournemouth.”

Liverpool trio prove Arne Slot is improving every area

Liverpool did shine under Jurgen Klopp last season, but there were certainly areas that needed improvement.

And rather than delve heavily into the transfer market, Slot has clearly worked hard behind the scenes to improve his squad.

Federico Chiesa was brought in to improve the attack, but Diaz has often taken it upon himself to be the main man going forward, which wasn’t the case last season.

Gravenberch meanwhile couldn’t quite settle under Klopp, but he looks a completely different player this time around.

And the defence have been the unsung heroes of Liverpool’s season so far, with clean sheets kept in four of the five league games so far.
