Liverpool’s confirmed starting line-up against Bournemouth as Arne Slot makes big Darwin Nunez decision

Liverpool face Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday and are in need of a win.

The Reds suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest last time out and simply have to put that right against the Cherries.

Once again, Liverpool are on home turf and Anfield will not expect to see back-to-back home losses against what – with all due respect – are mid-table Premier League teams.

Liverpool did bounce back in midweek with an impressive win over AC Milan but Arne Slot will know that much better is needed on the domestic front.

In the lead-up to the game, there has been plenty of talk surrounding Darwin Nunez and his lack of game time.

With the forward yet to start any of the five games so far this campaign, Slot promised that Nunez would get his chance when speaking to the press on Friday. And with the line-up now confirmed, the Liverpool head coach has made his decision.

Darwin Nunez starts for Liverpool

Slot claimed that Nunez was set to be a big player for him when he initially took the Liverpool job over the summer.

However, having arrived back late for pre-season on the back of the Copa America, the 25-year-old has so far played second fiddle to Diogo Jota.

That will now change, though, with Nunez finally given the nod to lead the line against the Cherries.

Slot has handed Darwin his first start of the campaign, as he makes up one part of a front three also containing Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz.

As expected, there is another change for Liverpool in goal, with Caoimhin Kelleher taking the place of the injured Alisson Becker.

Elsewhere, six more players are retained from the team which started against Milan on Tuesday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold continues at right-back, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate once again Liverpool’s centre-back partnership.

Meanwhile, Slot has decided to keep the same midfield, with all three of Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai backed to go again.
