The early weeks of Liverpool’s first campaign under Arne Slot have answered a number of questions so far.

Heading into the season without Jurgen Klopp for the first time in nine years, there were plenty of unknowns surrounding the Reds initially.

However, four games in, and it has already become clear how Slot sees the Liverpool squad he has inherited from Klopp.

One of the main questions lingering over Liverpool was how the new head coach would use Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Having started each match at right-back so far, that has been answered pretty resolutely. Despite that, a new contract is yet to be signed by Alexander-Arnold, leaving anxiety over his future.

Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘assessing’ Liverpool exit

Although he has started at right-back every time up until this point, Slot did push Alexander-Arnold into midfield during Saturday’s 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest.

What the Dutchman is planning with Trent long-term will likely depend on whether he commits to staying at Anfield.

If he does, Slot can start to fashion the No.66 into his long-term thinking. If not, then maybe we’ll see less of a defined role for Alexander-Arnold.

With September now past the midway point and no sign a new contract for Trent, plenty of fans will now be fearing a latter scenario.

And according to The Independent, the club to really watch out for in terms of turning Alexander-Arnold’s head is Real Madrid.

They claim that Madrid are ‘aiming’ to sign the Liverpool right-back as well as Man City’s Rodri and either Christian Romero of Tottenham or William Saliba of Arsenal.

With Trent yet to put pen to paper at his boyhood club, he is reportedly ‘assessing how things proceed’ at Liverpool post-Jurgen Klopp.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old is also said to have been talking ‘constantly’ with England teammate Jude Bellingham about life at Real Madrid.

Liverpool could lose Trent Alexander-Arnold

For some time, it has felt almost unimaginable that Liverpool could lose Alexander-Arnold to Madrid or any other club who came calling.

With his contract having so little time left on it, there had always been a feeling that a new deal would be around the corner. The right-back has certainly earned one. Roy Keane called Alexander-Arnold ‘brilliant‘ recently and he looks as good as ever.

However, time is now starting to run out on that front. There comes a point in the not too distant future where it starts to become inevitable that Alexander-Arnold will leave.

It has been claimed that the England squad have noticed Bellingham pushing Trent towards Madrid and the pull of joining one of his closest friends at such an enormous club is undoubtedly a big one.

At this point, it feels as though Liverpool supporters should be starting to preparing themselves for the worst.
