Trent Alexander-Arnold started the new Premier League with Liverpool on a tear, and the defender has managed to translate that form for England this month.
The right-back was arguably the star of the show for the Three Lions in the September international break, with Gary Lineker hailing Alexander-Arnold after his performance against the Republic of Ireland as the English media lauded the Liverpool man after Tuesday’s win against Finland.
With Alexander-Arnold looking exceptional in his natural right-back position, this year is shaping up to be a great one for the Liverpool star, who seems to have found his spark again after a summer to forget at the Euros.
And Jamie Carragher has now shared what he’s noticed about Alexander-Arnold’s attitude after this international break.
Carragher says Alexander-Arnold has his swagger back
Speaking on Stick to Football, Carragher highlighted how Alexander-Arnold is now playing without any fear and is now giving off a presence that he can pull off anything with the ball after his recent displays with England.
Given how impressed the likes of Roy Keane and Harry Kane were with Alexander-Arnold’s performance against Finland, the defender is exuding a level of confidence we haven’t seen for some time from the right-back, and Carragher is loving what he’s seen.

The pundit said: “The way I’m watching Trent for Liverpool and England, it’s almost too easy for him. When you’re seeing him pass, it’s like he’s training. You know when you’re training and you’ll go for that pass, he’s just so free.
“We spoke here last year at the start of last season on who was player of the year, and after six weeks we were mentioning Trent. Him now being vice captain, you just feel that presence on the pitch, his shoulders are back and he’s like: ‘I’m the man,’ and he’s got to do that for England, and it looked like he did the other night.”
Alexander-Arnold is at his best when his confidence is high
Alexander-Arnold is one of the most technically brilliant players in the Premier League and one of the best passers of the ball in world football, with the defender now high on confidence after a strong start to the season.
And for Liverpool and England, Alexander-Arnold is at his best when his self-belief is through the roof, with the 25-year-old putting on five outstanding performances in each game he has played a part in this campaign.
Indeed, Alexander-Arnold looks like a man reborn after the failure that was this summer’s Euros, and Liverpool and England fans will hope the defender can keep this level of form up in the coming weeks against the likes of AC Milan and Chelsea.
