Liverpool players are travelling around the world this week as they join up with their national teams.
Given the quality within the squad, it’s understandable that the Reds have so many of their key men away. 16 players have been called up to their country’s senior sides.
Having started the season so well under Arne Slot, there will be a desperate hope within Liverpool that all 16 of those – as well as Harvey Elliott, Tyler Morton, Jarell Quansah and Trey Nyoni – come back healthy.
Unfortunately, that has gotten off to a less than promising start. Alexis Mac Allister is struggling with a small knock while Elliott has been sent home from England U21 duty.
Clearly, it hasn’t all been bad news, though, and footage emerged on Wednesday evening of Trent Alexander-Arnold enjoying himself during England training.

Trent Alexander-Arnold looking sharp for England
It has been a strange season for Alexander-Arnold so far. While he has been his usual excellent self on the pitch, his contract situation at Liverpool has overshadowed everything.
Trent was visibly upset with Slot when taken off with 20 minutes to go against Brentford in August, and the right-back’s future still remains very unclear.
The national team can offer some respite to that, however, and Alexander-Arnold will be hopeful that things are about to take a positive turn for him with England.
Gary Lineker said Alexander-Arnold was ‘hung out to dry‘ during this summer’s European Championship after Gareth Southgate opted to play him in midfield and then promptly abandoned the plan.

Southgate has since been replaced by Lee Carsley, though, giving the Liverpool academy graduate a fresh start and a new chance to impress.
And judging from footage posted by the official England X account on Wednesday night, Trent is doing his best to catch the eye.
The Scouser is shown firing in two crisp finishes from outside the area as Man City’s Jack Grealish watches on.
“I always score!” Alexander-Arnold laughs as he walks towards the camera.
Will Trent Alexander-Arnold start for England?
There’s little question that Alexander-Arnold’s England career has been hampered by Southgate.
The former manager did hand Liverpool’s No.66 his debut back in 2018, but clearly had little idea of how to get the bet out of him.
Trent was also unlucky to behind Kyle Walker in the pecking order, but there’s no question that the 25-year-old should have picked up far more than 29 caps he has to his name.
With Walker now 34 and Kieran Trippier having retired, the path to being England’s starting right-back is becoming clearer for Alexander-Arnold.
Walker is not in the squad which will face Ireland and Finland over the next week. As a result, it seems likely that Trent is finally in for some serious game time. He looks ready for it.
