Gabriel Agbonlahor says he spotted Mo Salah doing something brilliant at full-time of Man United vs Liverpool

It was a day to remember for Liverpool on Sunday as they thrashed arch rivals Manchester United.

The Reds had rightly been quietly confident heading into the game, but would never have been dreaming that they’d have things so easy.

In the end, the 3-0 score-line should have been more. Liverpool showed that they are comfortably superior to United in just about every way.

A big part of the reason for that was the performance of Mohamed Salah. Salah absolutely loves playing at Old Trafford and has now scored in each of his last seven games on the ground.

And aside from his perfectly taken goal and two wonderful assists, former England striker Gabriel Agbonlahor says there was something else he took away from Salah’s performance which may have gone unnoticed.

Gabriel Agbonlahor praises ‘hungry’ Mohamed Salah

After putting United to the sword, Salah of course went on to make headlines for different reasons after Sunday’s big win.

The Egyptian spoke out live on Sky Sports to say that he was still yet to be approached about signing a new contract to stay at Anfield beyond this season.

On the back of such a decisive display at the home of Liverpool’s biggest rivals, it was quite the statement to make. Perhaps unfairly to the head coach, Arne Slot was forced to comment on Salah’s future in his own post-match duties.

And although it remains unclear exactly what will happen with the 32-year-old in the next eight months, Agbonlahor took to TalkSPORT to declare that Salah’s willingness to run all the way up to the final whistle shows just how hungry he is to keep going.

“Where do you start? Seven consecutive goals at Old Trafford, he’s outstanding,” raved the pundit.

“People thought he might drop off this season but he showed he’s hungry. He wants to go and win the Champions League again, he wants to win the Premier League again.

“I mean he’s got to go down as probably the best right winger in Premier League history, for me, Mo Salah.

“What I love about Salah the most, when the final whistle went he was still running through trying to get a goal,” Agbonlahor adds. “These Liverpool players are just hungry to destroy teams and I thought Mo Salah was unstoppable.”

Liverpool must act quickly with Salah

Sunday really was a statement from Salah. As Agbonlahor says, there were a few people thinking the Egypt captain might start to fade this season.

Salah did not end the last campaign in the best nick and with a year left on his deal, some felt that perhaps his intensity would drop off.

But that is simply not Mo’s style. As dedicated and relentless as they come, Salah has instead resolved to show Liverpool why they absolutely cannot afford to lose him.

Even Roy Keane admitted that Salah is ‘world class‘ after Sunday’s game. When you’ve got the famously hard to please Keane singing your praises, you know you’ve achieved iconic status.

Gary Lineker thinks it will ‘take a lot’ for Liverpool to keep Salah but the club must do everything in their power to make it happen. Mo looks like he wants to stay and on this kind of form, the Reds would be fools to let him slip away.
