Liverpool have finally made signatures under Arne Slot, bringing in Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Steven Gerrard is delighted with Chiesa at Liverpool, with the winger joining on a four-year deal from Juventus.

Goalkeeper Mamardashvili meanwhile has been signed from Valencia, but has returned to the club on loan for the current season.

It is certainly an exciting time for the Anfield club, who could agree further deals in the transfer window before the deadline.

On the pitch meanwhile, the Reds are joint-top of the Premier League table after two wins from their first two matches.

Jamie Carragher shares Federico Chiesa verdict at Liverpool

Slot’s first big test, however, arrives against Manchester United on Sunday, with Liverpool travelling to Old Trafford for the league clash.

It remains to be seen whether new attacker Chiesa will play against Man United, but Jamie Carragher is very excited to see the Italian in action in general this season.

“I mean the two deals that they have done I am pleased with them getting those in,” Carragher said on Sky Sports News. “They got the goalkeeper done and that is one for the future, you can see he is probably one of the best young goalkeepers around.

“I think the Chiesa deal is fantastic. I think in all the time Mo Salah has been at the club, he stands out that much, he never misses games, Liverpool have never quite had anyone to fill in that role when he’s not been there.

“Even last season when you look at the players who played there like [Diogo] Jota or [Luis] Diaz, all of Liverpool’s forwards all seem more comfortable on the left.”

Arne Slot now has six star attackers at Liverpool

There are now questions about not only where Chiesa will play under Slot, but whether he will be a starter or regular from the bench.

Liverpool need a big squad in order to compete on all fronts this season, with the Anfield boss clearly well aware of this.

He now has six senior players to choose from in the final third, with Chiesa joining Salah, Diaz, Jota, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo in attack.

Many can operate in different roles, and Chiesa is certainly versatile, with the Italian having played on the right, left and centrally over the years.

Where will Federico Chiesa play at Liverpool?

Slot has started with Diaz, Jota and Salah in his early stages at the club, with the trio shining brightly against Ipswich and Brentford.

But injuries and fatigue will play a part in the months to come, meaning Chiesa is certain to become a key player at Liverpool as Slot looks to rotate his attack.

Carragher has shared his verdict on where the new Anfield star will fit in, saying: “Chiesa coming in initially will be back-up to Mo Salah.

“But I think when you go back to the Euros when Italy beat England in the final I thought we were looking at a £60/70million player at that time.

“He had a big injury after that, an ACL, but last season looking at his minutes and appearances it wasn’t too bad. I think it’s an absolute snip. I think it’s a great deal for Liverpool.”
