Liverpool made a major move late in the transfer window with the signature of Federico Chiesa from Juventus.

Tim Sherwood rates the signing of Chiesa, with the Italian international moving to Liverpool on a four-year deal.

His arrival could, however, result in a major exit, with Luis Diaz potentially leaving Liverpool after Chiesa’s signature.

Arne Slot now has six senior attackers to choose from this season, with keeping everyone happy set to be a real challenge.

There will, however, be a lot of games for the Reds in another busy season, with Slot needing a big squad in order to be successful in his first campaign at Anfield.

Liverpool fans are certain to be happy with the latest signature, and that is also the case for two club legends.

Former captain Steven Gerrard took to Instagram to share his delight, with icon Ian Rush welcoming Chiesa to Merseyside, writing on Instagram: “Welcome to Liverpool.”

Will Federico Chiesa hit the ground running at Liverpool?

Chiesa has certainly struggled with injuries in recent times, which is perhaps why the Reds were able to sign him for just €13million (£10.95million) plus add-ons.

He, therefore, doesn’t have the pressure on his shoulders that other players have had over the years that have joined for huge sums.

At the same time, however, the winger is a European star and helped Italy lift the Euro 2020 trophy, so big things will be expected early on.

Chiesa may need time to settle in, but he should he helped by fellow attackers Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, even if he is their competition.

Keeping the Italian fit may just be the biggest challenge for Slot, but the boss has done a good job with his players in that regard so far.
