Arne Slot has already made absolutely the right call with two of Liverpool’s young players

Arne Slot has had a busy introduction to life at Liverpool, with the Dutch manager passing the test so far.

Michael Owen is really impressed with Slot, who had the unenviable task of taking over from the much-loved Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

But he has already warmed to the Anfield faithful, having impressed in pre-season before winning his first two competitive matches in charge.

Slot guided his side to 2-0 Premier League wins over both Ipswich Town and Brentford, leaving the Reds joint-top of the table.

But perhaps some question marks remain over his transfer window dealings, even with the impending arrivals of Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa.

Liverpool loanees Lewis Koumas and Owen Beck earn Wales call-ups

Liverpool fans were angry about Fabio Carvalho’s sale to Brentford, while there has been frustration at the sale of Bobby Clark to RB Salzburg.

Both have left permanently, but Slot has fortunately kept hold of many other young talents that he seemingly believes can play a part in the club’s future.

He has certainly made the right call with young duo Lewis Koumas and Owen Beck, who have been loaned out to Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers respectively.

Both have bright futures in the game, proven by the decision from new Wales head coach Craig Bellamy to include the pair in his squad for the upcoming international break.

Former Liverpool striker Bellamy has named both Koumas and Beck in the squad to take on Turkey and Montenegro early next month.

The new Stoke forward has retained his place, while the new Blackburn left-back is one of two uncapped players called up, along with Leeds United’s Karl Darlow.

What does the future hold for Liverpool duo Lewis Koumas and Owen Beck?

Beck has just three Liverpool appearances to his name, with Slot sending the youngster to Blackburn in order to give him regular game time.

The 22-year-old left-back, who can also play further forward, should have plenty of opportunities to impress in the Championship.

Koumas meanwhile, who operates across the frontline, has already made a big impact at Stoke, with two goals in his first four appearances.

It remains to be seen what their Anfield future holds, but for now they should enjoy life in England’s second division.

They could have joined the likes of Clark and Sepp van den Berg in leaving Liverpool permanently, but like Calvin Ramsay, Luke Chambers and Rhys Williams, they should be back next summer.
