Liverpool supporters have reacted angrily after the club allowed Fabio Carvalho to leave Anfield for Brentford.

Carvalho left Liverpool to be wanted, having found regular playing time difficult under Jurgen Klopp last season.

Liverpool have a 17.5% sell-on clause for Carvalho, who has signed a five-year deal with the Bees following his £27million move.

Carvalho made 21 competitive appearances for the senior side after his move from Fulham in 2022, scoring three goals.

The attacker’s time at Liverpool was disrupted by loan moves, with the winger lining out for RB Leipzig and Hull City last season.

The latter switch was undoubtedly the more successful of the two, with the 21-year-old scoring nine goals.

He has now been allowed to leave Anfield permanently, with many Liverpool fans not happy with the decision.

One user on X commented: “Big mistake in selling him. I refuse to believe we have done this,” with a second saying: “What’s going on? LFC shouldn’t be a cash out football club.”

A third noted: “Not sure why we signed him in the first place if we weren’t prepared to give him an opportunity. Frustrating, honestly.”

A fourth commented: “So poor from the club, treated poorly and deserved a season under Slot.”

Another angry Liverpool fan said: “Gutted he’s left. Never given the proper chance to prove himself, and he could have been an amazing player for us. I’m sure he’ll flourish at Brentford.”

Another fan commented: “Not really sure what this signing was all about. Bought 2 seasons ago with a lot of excitement around him. Loaned out on his second season and now sold. I feel like something has happened behind the scenes or there is something about him that we didn’t like.”

Another said: “Absolutely gutted. Such a good player that just didn’t fit in our system. Brentford are a very lucky team to get him.”

Should Liverpool have given Fabio Carvalho a chance?

Carvalho burst onto the scene as an exciting teenager at Fulham, and it didn’t take Liverpool long to make their move.

The loans last season were certainly understandable, with the youngster given a chance to develop himself elsewhere.

But returning to Anfield and becoming an important first-team player was seemingly the next part of the plan, which now hasn’t happened.

The permanent sale has understandably left many Reds fans shocked, with Carvalho netting twice on the club’s pre-season tour of the USA.

He was one of the standout players under Arne Slot, but unfortunately won’t get the chance to play competitively under the new boss.

Fortunately, regular minutes should arrive at Brentford, with Carvalho now having the opportunity to get his promising career back on track.
