Liverpool need to act fast if they are to bring any new players in to give them a hand this season.
The Reds have sat tight throughout the summer transfer window, failing to sign a single player until days before the deadline.
Thankfully, Liverpool have now broken their duck to bring in Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia. However, the goalkeeper will not arrive at Anfield until 2025.
In the meantime, Arne Slot is still without a new player to help him in the here and now. That needs to change before Friday.
Thankfully, the Reds appear to be working hard to make that happen. And that looks like being good news for a player who has held a two-year dream of becoming a Liverpool player.

Federico Chiesa dreaming of Liverpool move
With such little time left to do business in, things now have to move very quickly indeed in the transfer window. As a result, any links coming through have to be concrete.
For Liverpool, having been stung by seeing Martin Zubimendi publicly emerge as a target earlier this month, those links are very quiet.
If they do come out, they will be out of nowhere and perhaps with an element of surprise.
So far, the only transfer openly being worked on by Liverpool is that of Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

It was certainly a surprise to see news that the Reds are trying to sign Chiesa come through on Monday. However, with the Italian having been linked with a move to Anfield for years, maybe it shouldn’t have been.
According to Give Me Sport, there was little shock in seeing Chiesa – a player labelled ‘fantastic’ by Rio Ferdinand – line up a transfer to Liverpool.
They claim that the 26-year-old has actually had the Reds ‘on his radar as a landing spot’ for the past two years.
As a result, Chiesa is said to be ‘very open’ to the deal being done and has always wanted to play in the Premier League more generally. On Liverpool’s part, they are reportedly ‘investigating the terms needed’ to sign the forward.
What Federico Chiesa has told Liverpool
Chiesa had been linked with Liverpool since before he even joined Juventus in 2020. It’s obvious that this is a mutual liking.
Having moved to Juve, though, it seemed very much like the ship had sailed for Chiesa coming to Anfield.
It just goes to show that Liverpool never truly take players they like off their transfer lists. If a move becomes an option and they still like him as a fit, they’ll go in for it.
For Chiesa, this dream now looks close to becoming a reality. As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chiesa has ‘opened the door’ to Liverpool during talks on Monday.
With Friday’s deadline now looming, a transfer that has been years in the making could finally be sorted very soon indeed.
