Liverpool are interested in rivalling Arsenal to sign Ademola Lookman

Atalanta BC winger Ademola Lookman is attracting interest from Liverpool but Arsenal have tabled an official offer. The 26-year-old has also featured on the shopping list of Paris Saint-Germain this summer. But a return to the Premier League is now appearing the most likely.

That is according to Alfredo Pedulla, who reports that Arsenal have offered Atlanta a €50m (£42.5m) deal including add-ons. The Gunners are also open to including Jakub Kiwior with Gian Piero Gasperini a fan. But their offer is far from La Dea’s €65-70m (£55-59m) price tag.

Liverpool are also lurking and may swoop to sign Lookman before the market shuts in what would be a return to Merseyside. He spent two years at Everton from 2017 to 2019 but has drawn interest from three top clubs after helping Atalanta win the Europa League last term.

Harvey Elliott reacts to Liverpool selling Bobby Clark to RB Salzburg

The transfer of Bobby Clark from Liverpool to RB Salzburg has drawn several responses with Harvey Elliott leading the reactions from the Reds’ first-team. Pep Lijnders raided Anfield for the midfielder’s services earlier this week as Jurgen Klopp’s old No2 secured a £10m swoop.

Liverpool also gained a 17.5% sell-on clause to agree to sell Clark to RB Salzburg, despite the 19-year-old only featuring 14 times in the Reds’ senior side. He even only spent three terms on Merseyside largely spent as an academy ace after joining from Newcastle United in 2021.

Still, despite his lack of first-team minutes, Clark enjoyed his time at Liverpool and left with the best wishes of those he played with. Elliott has reacted to the youngster’s farewell post on Instagram with ‘Good luck ma bro’, while Stefan Bajcetic also noted, ‘Good luck brother’.

It is ‘almost inevitable’ Virgil van Dijk leaves Liverpool as a free agent

Liverpool are still yet to offer Virgil van Dijk a contract extension, despite their captain being in the last year of his current deal. That is according to The Athletic, which notes that Anfield chiefs are still unsure whether or not he holds a future on Merseyside beyond the campaign.

Van Dijk is open to signing fresh terms to continue on next season but his position is not one totally shared with the Liverpool board currently. What is even ‘almost inevitable’ is that the Dutchman will leave Anfield as a free agent, either in June 2025 or when any new deal ends.

Liverpool are happy to let Van Dijk leave as a free agent, despite signing him in January 2018 as the world’s most expensive defender. His arrival from Southampton cost the Reds £75m, making Van Dijk not only their record signing but still the most expensive player at Liverpool.
