Liverpool have held talks over selling youngster Jurgen Klopp said was ‘super talented’

Liverpool are making themselves some good money in the final few days of the transfer window.

The Reds are yet to invest in any new players as the market enters its final week on Friday.

However, there has been some interesting movement going the other way, with Liverpool banking more than £60m from the sales of Sepp van den Berg, Fabio Carvalho and Bobby Clark.

Others appear expected to leave Anfield in the coming days. Tyler Morton looks set to go after receiving plenty of interest from around Europe, for example.

And, unfortunately, Morton isn’t the only academy starlet who seems destined to spend his immediate future away from Liverpool.

Liverpool hold talks over Stefan Bajcetic exit

If Morton is to leave over the next seven days, then Liverpool are starting to look lighter than ever in the midfield area.

However, that reportedly will not stop Arne Slot from sending more of his midfielders away for at least the season.

It has already been reported that Liverpool spoke to Real Sociedad about loaning Stefan Bajcetic as part of the Martin Zubimendi negotiations.

Although they ultimately failed, it signalled a clear intent that Liverpool are ready to loan Bajcetic out as he continues his road back from almost 18 months out injured.

And according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, it seems that those conversations with La Real were not necessarily the only ones Liverpool have held about letting the 19-year-old go.

Writing in his Daily Briefing on Friday morning, the journalist reports that although there has been nothing ‘concrete’ with Bajcetic, ‘initial talks’ have taken place over his exit.

“No updates on Stefan Bajcetic,” he says. “There’s nothing concrete to report yet, just initial talks but not advancing.

“He was on Real Sociedad’s list as part of the Zubimendi talks, but nothing has happened since Zubi decided to reject Liverpool.”

Liverpool should not let Stefan Bajcetic leave

While the possibility that Zubimendi was about to join Liverpool was still on the table, it made plenty of sense to let Bajcetic go the other way.

The youngster needs to play football after such a long time out and is clearly not in line to start under Slot.

Bajcetic looked like a good fit to replace Zubimendi for the Spanish side and it would have been a positive step for all parties.

But without Zubimendi in their first-team squad, Liverpool should now be looking to keep hold of Bajcetic. He may not be a starter, but the season is long and he’ll get some minutes.

Jurgen Klopp called Bajcetic ‘super talented‘ and was always a big fan of the youngster. If no one else arrives, he’s definitely worth keeping around this season. If not, then an exit better be on-loan and not a permanent sale.
