Time is rapidly running out for Liverpool to make sure their summer transfer window is not a total disaster.
With just nine days left in operation in the market, the Reds remain the only Premier League club yet to make a signing.
Although an argument can be made that the Liverpool squad is already the strongest it’s been in years, there’s also little question that one or two additions could make all the difference for Arne Slot.
Liverpool came up short last season and there’s not much reason to think the same will not happen again unless they bolster the team with a signing or two.
Thankfully, there does appear to be some movement at Liverpool. While five players could be sold between now and next Friday, the Reds are also getting a wiggle on to bring at least one through the door.

Liverpool set for Giorgi Mamardashvili talks
Many Liverpool fans would no doubt still like to see their club bring in an elite defensive midfielder in the next week.
Between that and another top quality option at centre-back, they are the two areas that Slot could really do with upgrading at the moment.
Nevertheless, Liverpool’s first signing of a long and frustrating summer looks set to be in neither of these key positions.
Instead, Liverpool are pushing to sign goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

The signing of Mamardashvili – who would then spend a season or two out on-loan – does mean that there is doubt over Alisson Becker’s long-term Liverpool future. As a result, it is not the most exciting transfer in the world.
Nevertheless, it could still turn out to be a coup for the Reds. And according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool want things wrapping up as soon as possible for Mamardashvili.
“Liverpool and Valencia will talk again today in order to fix details of Giorgi Mamardashvili deal,” Romano said on Wednesday morning.
“All parties want to get it done this week as Georgian GK would stay at Valencia on loan at least for one more season. Deal at final stages.”
Is Giorgi Mamardashvili a good signing?
Before the summer market really got going, it had felt like there could be a lot of change within Liverpool’s goalkeeping department.
However, Caoimhin Kelleher looks likely to stay put as back-up, while rumours about Alisson leaving for Saudi Arabia proved to be wide of the mark.
Nevertheless, the imminent signing of Mamardashvili does show that change is indeed coming between the sticks at Anfield.
In isolation, not too many Liverpool supporters will have been all that enthusiastic about this deal. Without a new signing to celebrate all summer long, the first looks set to be a ‘keeper who may not play for the club for two years.
But putting that aside, Mamardashvili looks like one of the best up and coming goalkeepers in Europe. For him to want to join and go out on-loan for a while shows just how much he wants the move, too. After the Martin Zubimendi debacle, that’s something we should all be thankful for.
