Liverpool could be set to announce their first signing of the summer transfer window in the next few days in the form of Martin Zubimendi.
The Spanish international has been identified as a top target for the Reds, with Liverpool recently alerting Real Sociedad that they are interested in signing Zubimendi this summer.
With a release clause worth £51m, Liverpool will need to lay out a large chunk of cash in order to bring the midfielder to Anfield, with the sale of Fabio Carvalho to Brentford likely to aid Arne Slot in his bid to sign Zubimendi.
Yet Liverpool are seemingly not stopping at Zubimendi when it comes to signing midfielders.

Liverpool eyeing Adrien Rabiot alongside Zubimendi
According to the Mirror, Liverpool are interested in signing Adrien Rabiot as well as Zubimendi, with the French midfielder now a free agent having left Juventus after his contract expired last month.
Lauded as ‘world-class’ by David Trezeguet, Rabiot has been linked with Liverpool for quite some time, with a Premier League move seemingly on the cards for the former Serie A and PSG superstar this summer.
With Rabiot also wanted by Manchester United, Liverpool face an uphill battle already to sign the French international, though this update is an encouraging sign that something could be done in the coming weeks.
Indeed, Liverpool have ramped up the pressure in the market in recent days, and landing both Rabiot and Zubimendi would be quite the coup for the Reds given their midfield options for next season.

Rabiot could be exceptional for the Reds in the new season
Rabiot has enjoyed his best football yet in the last 18 months, with the midfielder playing key roles for club and country and looking like a new player having recently been viewed as something of an underwhelming figure.
And for Liverpool, Rabiot could be an exceptional signing if the Reds can win the race for the Frenchman’s signing, especially if the Anfield side can also bring in Zubimendi.
Midfield is an area of the pitch that Liverpool could do with some reinforcements in, and Rabiot would cover numerous roles for Slot if the Dutch coach can bring the former Juventus star to Merseyside.
