It’s been a quiet summer for Liverpool, yet things seem like they’re about to explode in a big way for the Reds.
Fabio Carvalho is set to leave Liverpool for Brentford in a £27m deal, with the Merseyside giants making another huge profit from a young player despite hardly playing the Portuguese youth international in the last two years.
With Caoimhin Kelleher also expected to leave Liverpool, the Anfield side could be about to recoup a significant amount of money in the market this month, with some signings also in the pipeline for Arne Slot’s side.
And Liverpool have now made their interest known on one player this week.

Liverpool tell Real Sociedad they want to sign Martin Zubimendi
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool have alerted Real Sociedad that they are ‘very interested’ in signing star player Martin Zubimendi, who in recent days has emerged as the Reds’ main midfield target.
Plettenberg wrote on Twitter about Liverpool’s latest move to sign Zubimendi: “Understand that Real Sociedad have been officially informed that Liverpool is very interested in Martín Zubimendi.
“That’s why there are concrete and ongoing talks between Liverpool, the player, and his management. With the permission of Real Sociedad. No club to club talks at this stage. The 25 y/o midfielder has not yet informed his club that he wants to leave.”
Praised by Kieran Tierney as ‘world-class’ via the Guardian, all signs point towards Zubimendi becoming Liverpool’s first signing of the summer transfer window, and the Spanish international could be a dream addition for Slot.

Reds should have moved for Zubimendi earlier this summer
Zubimendi is clearly a top-class midfielder having played a key role in Spain winning Euro 2024 earlier this summer having already guided Sociedad to another European finish in La Liga.
Yet for Liverpool, they should have set out their intentions to sign Zubimendi earlier in the window, with the midfielder set to join at the latest possible point in pre-season ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
With a set release clause, Liverpool could have saved a lot of time and effort in getting Zubimendi in earlier this summer, especially with the Basque seemingly set on making the move to Anfield.
