Liverpool are beginning to make some serious moves after a quiet summer transfer window.
The Reds have been keen to take their time in the market after appointing Arne Slot at the end of the season.
There are one or two areas of the Liverpool squad that could do with an upgrade, but Slot has been keen to take a look and figure out for himself which positions they are.
His conclusion appears to have been that midfield is the spot most in need of something doing. As a result, Liverpool have been pushing to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
As Liverpool await Zubimendi’s decision, though, it also looks like plans are being put in place for Liverpool’s future at centre-back.

Liverpool readying Levi Colwill move
Having watched Liverpool under Slot this pre-season, it’s obvious that midfield is the area that can be elevated the most.
The Dutchman places great emphasis on his midfielders having the ball and using it well and a player like Zubimendi could help the Reds go up a level.
Nevertheless, Slot’s team is still a little bit light at centre-back, too. Ahead of the summer window starting, it was reported that signing a new defender was the priority for Liverpool.
That has since been shunted to the side, though. Perhaps the Reds have decided to keep and utilise Sepp van den Berg after some good performances in the off-season.

Whatever the reasons behind it, Liverpool no longer look as keen as they once were to sort a defensive signing out as soon as possible.
That does not mean they aren’t looking at all, mind you. According to Give Me Sport, the Reds are still very much ‘assessing’ what to do at the back.
This could reportedly still lead to a signing this summer, but it could also happen that Liverpool put the new addition off for another year. They claim that if that is the decision, then Chelsea’s Levi Colwill could be a candidate.
he Reds are said to believe that an exit for Colwill before the August 30th deadline ‘is not possible,’ however, there is reportedly a chance they could come back again for the 21-year-old in 2025.
Liverpool still weighing up Levi Colwill
This time last year, Colwill was a top target for Liverpool. There was a time when it looked like a transfer may be genuinely possible.
Having stayed at Chelsea, though, the England international’s stock has fallen slightly.
Mauricio Pochettino described Colwill as a ‘fantastic talent‘ during his time at Stamford Bridge, but it was an up and down season for the defender.
With another new boss now in charge with the Blues – and another raft of strange signings having been made – it could be another long year for Colwill.
For Liverpool, that might just play into their hands. If they don’t bring someone in this year, we’d certainly keep Colwill in mind for 12 months time.
