Tuesday is a big day for Liverpool as the full first-team squad meet up for the first time under Arne Slot.
The Reds have seen their players report back for duty in dribs and drabs throughout the summer so far.
But having been without a fair few really senior players during Liverpool’s tour of the USA, the new head coach will finally have his whole team together.
Part of the mini group reintegrating into the set-up is Trent Alexander-Arnold. With less than a year now to go on his contract at Anfield, there is nervousness among the fanbase over the right-back’s future.
And after Darwin Nunez was spotted teasing Trent about reported interest from Real Madrid, legendary centre-back Jamie Carragher has given his take on the situation.

Jamie Carragher gives Alexander-Arnold verdict
Liverpool could really do with clearing up Alexander-Arnold’s future over the next week or so.
It seems unlikely to happen, but if they could sort out a new contract for the academy graduate before next Saturday’s Premier League opener, that would be perfect.
With Trent – and every other important figure at Liverpool – now back at the AXA Training Centre, there are no more excuses left for the Reds.
As fans watch on nervously, Liverpool legend Carragher has shared what he thinks will happen with Alexander-Arnold.

“I’ve always believed he would stay,” the pundits tells SPORTBible. “It’s up for debate.
“He’s going to be the next captain. He’s a local lad. I always think you have that greater affinity when you’re a local player. I certainly did, Steven Gerrard didn’t go to Real Madrid or Chelsea because it was Liverpool,” Carragher adds.
“You’ve got to remember Real Madrid have got a decent right-back [Dani Carvajal], he’s just won the Euros, and I think he’s won the European Cup about six times. He’s not a dud.
“My fear is that Real Madrid are thinking of signing him in another year’s time because I don’t think they’re ready to offload Carvajal just yet. Maybe in a year’s time – who knows?”
Big days ahead for Alexander-Arnold
Throughout the Alexander-Arnold contract stand-off, there has seemingly been little in the way of panic from Liverpool.
Robbie Fowler believes Trent is staying, while the No.66 has already had a positive phone conversation with Slot.
Now, though, is time for real action. If this is not sorted out by the end of the transfer deadline, for example, fans will start to get very nervous indeed.
Up to this point, it has perhaps been understandable that no movement has been made. With Trent away and a new head coach and sporting director in place, it’s easy to see how that could happen.
But once Alexander-Arnold is back in the building and everyone can get around a table, this should be boxed off as soon as possible. If not, Carragher’s tune may start to change.
