Liverpool have been very quiet in the summer transfer window, with the new season rapidly approaching.

It has been all change at Anfield since last season came to an end, with Arne Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp in the dugout.

The Dutchman has brought plenty of staff with him, while Richard Hughes has arrived as the club’s new sporting director.

Slot and Hughes must now work closely together in order to hit the ground running at Liverpool, with new faces definitely needed.

Fans will be getting more and more impatient as each day passes, particularly with the club’s rivals strengthening.

What do Liverpool plan on doing in the summer transfer window?

But much of the talk around the Reds has focused on outgoings, although the Reds have stood firm regarding the potential sale of Wataru Endo.

Liverpool do not want to sell Endo, with the Merseyside club having rejected a £12million offer from Marseille for the player.

And according to the Mirror, Slot is using the current pre-season tour of the USA to assess his squad before making any recruitment and retention decisions.

It comes after the decision to rejected the bid for Endo, with the Mirror adding that the club’s business likely to focus on replacing players they offload.

The publication also noted that the Anfield outfit are currently spoilt for choice in the final third.

Will Liverpool strengthen before the transfer window closes?

Endo isn’t the only player that the Reds are keen on keeping a hold of, with Liverpool having rejected an approach from PSV Eindhoven for Sepp van den Berg.

It remains to be seen which areas Slot wants to strengthen, but it seems that he is eager to keep his new group intact.

There will undoubtedly be exits before the window closes, but as few changes as possible would be a wise approach from the Dutchman.

He needs his new group to help him settle into life on Merseyside, with the current squad certainly capable of shining next season.

But the return of Champions League football should encourage Slot to spend big before the new season gets underway.
