A former Premier League official has all-but confirmed that Liverpool had been interested in signing one of their club’s star players this summer.
The Reds have had the quietest transfer window out of any top-flight English side this summer, with Liverpool yet to spend a single penny on new signings, as the Anfield side have also not sold anyone of any value in the market.
Whilst there have been links to Morten Frendrup, the general mood around Liverpool fans seems to be that it will be some time before a new signing is made, with Arne Slot’s side still on their pre-season tour of the United States.
Yet Liverpool’s interest in one Premier League star has now been confirmed.

Amanda Staveley confirms Liverpool interest in Anthony Gordon
Speaking to the Athletic, former Newcastle United official Amanda Staveley confirmed that Liverpool were chasing Anthony Gordon, with the winger strongly linked with a move to Anfield, as the Reds looked to bring the forward back to Merseyside.
With reports still suggesting that Liverpool could still move for Gordon, this rumour could well last until the final days of the summer transfer window, especially with the Reds keen on bringing in an attacker in the market.
Yet in the words of Staveley, Liverpool have already made an approach of sorts for the £45m-rated Gordon, who could well leave Newcastle at some point in the coming weeks if Slot was to make a renewed attempt for the former Everton man this summer.
Staveley said: “My biggest concern was that we’d lose Alex [Isak] or Anthony [Gordon] because Liverpool chased him and both are extraordinary players. Negotiating is tough because you have to pretend it means nothing to you when it means everything.”

Liverpool should consider fresh approach for Gordon this summer
With 11 goals and ten assists in the Premier League last season, the 23-year-old attacker is more than proving why he’s one of the most exciting prospects in England a player who could be ready to take the next level in his career.
And for Liverpool, a new approach for Gordon could be something that Slot and his transfer team genuinely consider, with the former Everton man ticking a lot of boxes for what the Reds are looking for in a new forward.
With former Newcastle official Stavelely confirming Liverpool’s interest in the winger, the cat is firmly out of the bag, and the Merseyside giants lose nothing in making a new attempt for Gordon this summer.
