Liverpool’s changing of the guard following Jurgen Klopp’s exit this summer is almost complete.

The Reds have had to overhaul the whole of the backroom team after seven members of staff left along with Klopp.

With Arne Slot put in charge, the Dutchman brought assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff with him from Feyenoord.

Along with Hulshoff, Ruben Peeters joined from the Dutch side. Peeters has replaced Andreas Kornmayer as head of conditioning at the AXA Training Centre.

Feyenoord blocked Liverpool from adding more coaches, meaning that the Reds had to look elsewhere to complete the team. Fabian Otte as goalkeeping coach and first team individual development coach Aaron Briggs have since arrived, too.

Ruben Peeters hailed after Liverpool arrival

Klopp was obviously one of the most loved managers in Liverpool history. But his coaching team were also popular with the fanbase.

It became second nature seeing Jurgen alongside Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz on the touchline.

As well as getting used to Slot, it will still take a little while for Liverpool fans to become familiar with the new man’s team.

However, it helps that all of them sound to be exceptional at their jobs. Otte has been described as an ‘amazing‘ coach while Hulshoff comes with a stellar reputation as well.

Peeters is another who has now been hailed, with Matt Wade, head of sporting strategy at Feyenoord, telling The Athletic that the Belgian is ‘unique.’

“Ruben is very professional in the way he conducts himself and is very strong in his areas of specialism,” says Wade.

“We used to have two heads of performance – Ruben and Leigh Egger – and they worked together really well,” he adds.

“Their responsibilities were a little bit different but they made each other a lot better, which is quite unique. Arne is a world-class coach, but also excellent at listening to advice.”

Will Liverpool hire anyone else?

Liverpool only formally announced the hiring of Briggs on Thursday. The 37-year-old is a virtual direct replacement for Vitor Matos.

Given that Hulshoff is replacing Lijnders, Otte taking over from Achterberg and Peeters following Kornmayer, that does still leave Krawietz needing to be succeeded.

As a result, there have been suggestions that Liverpool will bring in one more coach.

Some reports have claimed that former Everton defender Johnny Heitinga is under consideration, but no decision has yet been announced.

Whoever is finally brought it, if they’re anything like the calibre of coaches already hired, it’s something to get excited about.
