Liverpool fans can be forgiven for starting to worry about the situation of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Liverpool right-back has inexplicably been allowed to move to within touching distance of the last 12 months of his contract at Anfield.

Despite his status as one of three or four absolute key players at the club, Trent will be out of contract in summer 2025.

Inevitably, this has led to interest in the 25-year-old from some of Europe’s top clubs. Reports of interest from Real Madrid filtered through last week and that will rightly make fans start to feel very tetchy indeed.

The latest on Trent Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid

There’s really no excuse for Liverpool to have let things get to this stage with Trent. As well as one of the team’s best players, he’s also a local lad and academy graduate. Things should have been tied up long ago.

But, alas, they haven’t been. And now, as per The Daily Mail, chatter has already started to gather pace that Madrid will come in for the right-back.

They claim that ‘football circles’ have been talking for ‘several months’ about Madrid’s interest in Alexander-Arnold.

The Spanish giants have reportedly been known to have been ‘courting’ the England international as his contract remains up in the air.

Thankfully, it is claimed that Trent himself has given ‘no indication’ that he may want to leave. He’s said to ‘love’ the idea of being Liverpool captain one day and has thrown himself into being a big part of the new cycle at the club.

Nevertheless, given the size and pull of Madrid, the possibility of Alexander-Arnold leaving for Spain is labelled as ‘not fantasy.’

Will Alexander-Arnold really leave Liverpool

To many fans, it would seem unthinkable that Alexander-Arnold could leave and join Real Madrid.

But the fact of the matter is that he is a top, top player who has just a year left on his contract. There will be the temptation of riches and trophies on offer in the Spanish capital and you can see Real going all out to get him.

It also can’t be ignored that Trent’s England teammate and good friend Jude Bellingham is already out in Madrid. Having become close to Bellingham over recent years, you can well see the midfielder getting in his ear about joining him there.

From Liverpool’s point of view, they need to head that off as early as possible. This can’t wait now. Give him whatever it takes.
