Fabrizio Romano shares how Liverpool really feel about selling Luis Diaz to PSG

There are plenty of changes set to take place at Liverpool over the coming months.

With Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards ready to come on board and now a new scout confirmed to be following too, there’s been some restructuring going on.

Of course, that will all pale a little in comparison to the changes being made in the Liverpool dugout. With Jurgen Klopp on his way out, we still don’t know who’ll be replacing him.

Look past all of that though, and there are also some question marks surrounding exactly who’ll be in the Reds’ squad next season. Some key players are almost of contract, with worry over three in particular. That trio aren’t the only ones who’s futures need sorting out though, there’s also some clarity needed over Luis Diaz.

Luis Diaz linked with PSG

Rumblings have always been there that Barcelona like Diaz and Diaz likes Barcelona. Given the Spanish giants’ ongoing financial troubles though, that has never felt like being a genuine concern. What is slightly more worrying is that PSG are now being touted as having ‘real’ interest in the Colombian.

Speaking on his YouTube channel last night though, journalist Fabrizio Romano downplayed these rumours. Romano claims that Lucho is not an active target for PSG and even if he were, Liverpool are in no mood to sell.

“Luis Diaz is always in the rumours,” explained the reporter. “We had rumours about Spanish clubs for a long time. In recent days we had rumours about Paris Saint Germain. What I am told is internally, at Paris Saint Germain they are not currently working on a deal for Luis Diaz. So PSG have not approached Liverpool, have not prepared any proposal, are not actively working on a deal.

“Not all people at Paris Saint Germain are convinced about Luis Diaz as the best candidate for their attacking positions. So, at the moment they are not working on this deal. Obviously, you can appreciate a player like Luis Diaz but it doesn’t mean that they are working on this one. The situation remains quiet.

“Also, when we mention Luis Diaz, we have to respect Liverpool. Their positions has always been clear in recent months and years. They want him to be part of their project, they consider him to be a top player, so they are not entertaining any conversation for Luis Diaz.

“They want to trust him for present and future. Obviously, we will wait for the new manager but in any case Liverpool are super happy with him and are not that open to selling the player.”

Should Liverpool sell Luis Diaz

In truth, we don’t think that selling Diaz would be the worst idea this summer. The 27-year-old has been blowing hot and cold for a while.

If PSG came in with a big bid, maybe it would be wise for Liverpool to accept and look to rebuild with the money.

Having said that, Diaz has started to regain some form recently. He was superb against Manchester City a couple of weeks ago and has begun adding more goals to his game generally.

If he can continue that improvement for the rest of the season, then Liverpool’s stance will be justified. But if we see another dip, then it might be wise for the Reds to reconsider and begrudgingly move their No.7 on.
