With Michael Edwards in charge of Liverpool, things could be about to change. Edwards is renowned for his data recruitment policy, but also for his ability to sell players at the right time and for the right value.
During his time at the club, Liverpool released the likes of Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum. While the club also sold Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez. In the long-term though, Edwards was able to replace all of those outgoings with better players, and stars with better value for money.
Now, as he embarks on his new chapter in charge of FSG’s football operations, it would not be a surprise to see Liverpool return to those same ruthless policies. Especially with interest ramping up for the club’s 27-year-old star. Someone who based on his performances, Edwards may be tempted to sell if the right offer comes in for him in this summer’s transfer window.

Why Michael Edwards could sell Luis Diaz
As per Fabrice Hawkins Luis Diaz is currently on PSG’s transfer radar as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe. Diaz has also been linked with a move to Barcelona in the past.
With three years still left on his contract on paper, Diaz is not someone Liverpool would normally consider selling. However, taking into account that he is already 27-years-old and that his output hasn’t been great, it would not be a surprise for Edwards to be tempted into selling him this summer. Especially if a handsome offer arrives from someone like PSG or Barcelona.
Diaz is a great player on the ball. When he is in full flow there are few players like him in world football. However, his output has been poor for Liverpool. Especially in comparison to what you would be looking for from an attacking player.
This season Diaz has averaged a goal contribution just every 162 minutes. Overall, his career average is a goal contribution every 161 minutes for Liverpool. That average is only a goal or assist almost every other game. Which is a fairly poor return for an offensive player. That is why looking at that data, Edwards and his team may be tempted to part ways with Diaz this summer.
