Liverpool are interested in signing Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.
The Reds are currently without first-choice Andy Robertson in the position, with Kostas Tsimikas having a mixed time filling in.
This has led to speculation that Liverpool could pursue a deal to bolster their ranks in January. And according to French outlet le10sport, that’s exactly what the Reds are trying to do.
They claim that Ait-Nouri is indeed a rather long-term target, with Liverpool seemingly targeting the 22-year-old before Robertson’s injury.
As a result, the Reds have been in ‘regular and insistent contact’ with Wolves over a transfer for Ait-Nouri.
However, this has reportedly not been entirely to the Midlands’ side’s liking. It’s claimed that rather than look to do a deal with Liverpool, Wolves will ‘block’ any transfer for Ait-Nouri in January. It’s reported that even if offers do arrive, Wolves will stand firm.
Liverpool after Ait-Nouri
Ait-Nouri has been a name often put forward by Liverpool fans in terms of players who could succeed Robertson in the long-term.
Although he has often looked a little erratic for Wolves, his attacking prowess is something that really make him stand out in this regard.
Still only 22, and now into his fourth year at Molineux, Ait-Nouri has a good blend of youth and experience, something we know Liverpool look for.
Signed permanently for £9.5m in 2021 following a season-long loan, the Algeria international may not be all that expensive, either.

Despite that, Wolves clearly don’t want to let him go. With Tsimikas improving at the weekend, Robertson back relatively soon and youngsters waiting in the wings, Liverpool don’t need to push too hard.
Maybe it’s better to wait and see how Tsimikas responds to the rest of the season, and maybe go again in the summer.
By then, Ait-Nouri will have just two years left on his contract, and Wolves may be more open to offers.
Definitely something to keep an eye on this, Reds.
