Liverpool have the chance to make a real statement in the title race by beating Manchester City at Anfield tomorrow.
The Reds will likely head into the game having been knocked off the top of the Premier League table. With Arsenal at home to Brentford tonight, Liverpool vs City will probably be second against third by the time kick-off rolls around.
Nevertheless, it’s a massive game. Whoever is able to take the spoils will jump back to the top of the league. With 10 games of the season left, it could go a long way to settling the title race.
And with that in mind, the stage is set for some of the biggest players in the world to come to the fore. From Liverpool’s point of view, they’ve been boosted this week by the return of their biggest star of all – Mohamed Salah.
And speaking to BBC Football Daily yesterday, former Reds midfielder Don Hutchison said that the game against City was now ‘made’ for Salah.
“I think it’s a game made for Mo Salah,” Hutchison insisted. “He got 15 minutes on Thursday night. I thought he actually would have started the game and Klopp would have given him 45, an hour, just to get some minutes into his legs. But he’s going to come into it fresh.”
Salah ready to take centre stage
What a relief it is for Liverpool to have their main man available for tomorrow. They’re already missing two of the other four players Jamie Carragher once described as being ‘untouchable’ at the club.
Without Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson Becker, the Reds task will be invariably harder against City.
Had Salah also been chucked into that equation, then surely Liverpool would have found things near impossible.
With the Egyptian and Virgil van Dijk though, the Reds should still have two behemoths of modern football in their starting XI. As long as that pair are fine, then you feel that Liverpool always have something of a chance.

Salah himself has a fantastic personal record against the champions. While his return to fitness is an almighty bit of good news for Liverpool, it may also have been a mental blow to their opponents. Every little helps.
In the rare absence of their No.11 of late, the Reds have manoeuvred themselves into a wonderful position.
The hope will be that Salah can now come back and provide that extra bit of quality to push them on to even greater heights.
This may or may not be Mo’s final season at Anfield. But whether that is or is not the case, the 31-year-old is all set to be the main protagonist of Liverpool’s 2023/24 campaign. What a game lies in wait.
