Jurgen Klopp’s agent has just shared whether he would take the Bayern Munich job after leaving Liverpool

Liverpool are set to be right at the heart of this summer’s manager merry-go-round.

The Reds are currently assessing their options in regards to who will succeed Jurgen Klopp, with Xabi Alonso still the overwhelming favourite.

But they now have competition for Alonso. After today’s news that Bayern Munich will part company with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season, they too are on the lookout for a new appointment. And they want Xabi, too.

Another logical potential candidate for Bayern could be Klopp himself. The 56-year-old has been tipped as a future manager in Munich by captain Manuel Neuer and would normally be a natural runner.

But according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg on X, Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, has categorically ruled out Jurgen swapping Merseyside for Munich this summer.

“Jurgen Klopp will not coach any club or national team for a year after this current season,” Plettenberg quotes Kosicke as saying. “That remains unchanged.”

Klopp says no to Bayern

Ironically, in some ways this could actually be bad news for Liverpool. They know Klopp is leaving, so they have no control over what he does next.

If the German did take on the biggest job in his homeland, it would mean Bayern would probably bow out of the running for Alonso.

The Spaniard is of course the brightest young thing in coaching right now, but Jurgen is quite possibly the best manager in the world.

If it were a choice between the two we’d still pick Klopp all day long, and Bayern surely would, too.

But the Liverpool boss sticking firm on his plan to take a break means that the Reds are now set for a head-on collision with the Bavarians over Alonso.

Even if Klopp had been keen on taking a job straight off the back of his spell with Liverpool though, it’s hard to imagine him at Bayern.

Those in charge of the Bundesliga giants would surely try and tempt him. But as a Borussia Dortmund legend who’s been done over by them plenty of times in the past, it’s hard to see Jurgen saying yes.

Instead, it’s perhaps instructive that Kosicke mentions a national team. We think that Klopp is inevitably bound to take over Germany whenever he so chooses.

Whenever and wherever that is, he’ll always have the support of every Liverpool fan. But it won’t be at Bayern.
