Liverpool continue to be linked with potential transfer targets despite the uncertainty surrounding their recruitment personnel.
As it’s still unclear who will be both manager and sporting director at Anfield next season, it’s likely that any transfer plans are on ice. Just today, journalist Fabrizio Romano has expressed his surprise at links such as those to Leroy Sane continuing to circulate around Liverpool.
Nevertheless, it’s probably fair to say that the Reds will already have lists of possible additions. Those lists may change depending on who replaces Jurgen Klopp and Jorg Schmadtke, of course. But it’s good to be prepared, too.
One of those who could well be on the shortlist is Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu. Dorgu was suggested as being on Liverpool’s radar last summer, with claims from his agent that the Reds’ were even preparing a bid. Still at Lecce though, the 19-year-old has been speaking to Tipsbladet about his future.
“I don’t really think about interest from other clubs,” Dorgu said, with Liverpool, AC Milan and Barcelona mentioned by the Danish outlet. “I’m at Lecce and I have to focus on the season and on myself. It’s nice to hear people looking at me and talking about me, but I don’t have to think too much about it because I play in Lecce.
“Of course, it’s a good motivation for me that there are teams looking at me. It makes me work harder so I can reach the highest level possible. I’ll keep up the hard work and we’ll see what happens in the future.”
Dorgu aware of interest
It looks likely that Dorgu will be back in the sights of some of Europe’s biggest clubs at the end of the season.
Still a teenager, the Denmark U21 international looks like a star in the making. Having already played 19 times in Serie A this term, he’s beginning to get first-team experience.
And according to Lecce technical director Pantaleo Corvino, he has already had to beat away offers for Dorgu.
“In January, I brought written offers to the president that I couldn’t refuse,” he told Calciomercato earlier this week. “I’ll add that I’ve had incredible unwritten requests. They were rejected.”

Corvino didn’t go on to mention whether Liverpool had been one of those clubs making a firm offer for his club’s player. Neither did Dorgu himself go as far as namechecking the Reds.
As a result, we’ll just have to wait and see whether interest in the left-back continues under the new regime at Anfield.
It sounds like the youngster is determined to make sure that it does, though. His pledge to work harder to make it to the very top should be music to the ears of any interested parties.
Dorgu is definitely one to keep an eye on for the rest of the season. He may yet end up at Liverpool.
