Liverpool are reportedly interested in Lecce talent Patrick Dorgu, with the Reds preparing a move to sign the 18-year-old.

According to CalcioMercato, the Merseyside giants are ready to strike for the Nigerian-born Danish youth international, who last season guided Lecce to the Primavera title, the highest honour an academy player can win in Italy.

A product of the famous FC Nordsjaelland academy, Dorgu only moved to Lecce last summer where he has exclusively played for the U-19s, making 38 appearances in total and scoring four goals. And now, Liverpool are interested.

Lauded as an ‘exciting’ talent by the New Telegraph, Dorgu has seemingly caught the eye of Liverpool scouts as the Anfield side look to bolster their academy ranks with some young prospects from around Europe, with the Danish teenager seemingly an option.

Indeed, a deal could be very possible for Liverpool given how lucrative an offer from the Premier League could be for a Serie A side like Lecce. And for Dorgu, the player himself could be keen on making the move to England already in his career.

Dorgu is clearly a player of some potential as the defender played a key role in Lecce winning the biggest youth prize out there in Italian football this season. And with Liverpool firmly active in the market, a move to sign the defender should already be in the works.

Whilst Liverpool are blessed with a number of left-back talents, few have the experience or international pedigree as Dorgu, who himself could relish in the chance of playing at a higher level and training at a club with facilities as good as the Anfield giants.
