There were so many brilliant individual performances for Liverpool last night. Undoubtedly, Conor Bradley will get most of the plaudits, and rightfully so. He was simply sensational and delivered the kind of performance that can be the catalyst for his young career.

Bradley wasn’t alone though in putting in an outstanding performance. Darwin Nunez looked threatening all night long, and he was really unfortunate not to score. Although, he did at least get an assist at the end. There was also Alexis Mac Allister – who was simply sensational.

Mac Allister controlled the middle of the park and absolutely dominated Chelsea’s mega money midfield. The Argentine won the most tackles on the pitch (7) and the most duels (11). After the game, Jurgen Klopp was quick to show his appreciation for the 24-year-old with a well deserved gesture.

Jurgen Klopp reaction to Alexis Mac Allister

After the final whistle, the Liverpool boss went over to congratulate Mac Allister and gave him a long customary Klopp hug – while the rest of the players were celebrating. As Liverpool fan, Asim tweeted the Liverpool boss just simply couldn’t let go of Mac Allister.

And we can understand why. The way Klopp reacted to Mac Allister simply says it all. Yes, the goalscorers and the assist makers will grab all the headlines. But behind the scenes, it’s Mac Allister who is making them tick.

He won’t always be highlighted for his performances though. Mac Allister’s role often goes under the radar. That’s something even Klopp has highlighted recently. This is perhaps why he was so appreciative of the Argentine after the final whistle.
