‘He has been outstanding’… BBC pundit amazed by 24-year-old Liverpool player vs Chelsea tonight

Jurgen Klopp couldn’t have asked for a better result and performance from his Liverpool side tonight. The Reds simply and utterly dominated Chelsea. It was one of the most comfortable performances Liverpool had played in a while. And that’s saying a lot, because Liverpool have been pretty comfortable in most games this season.

In such a dominant game naturally there were so many brilliant individual performances. From Conor Bradley, who was simply sensational. To Alexis Mac Allister, who absolutely dominated the midfield.

Then there was of course the ever growing enigma of Darwin Nunez. Again, the Uruguayan was simply everywhere. But that elusive goal just wouldn’t come his way. No matter how hard he tried. Nonetheless, he still played a key role in Liverpool’s victory.

BBC pundit on Darwin Nunez

One pundit who was especially impressed by Darwin Nunez’s performance was Chris Sutton. Speaking on the BBC he lavished special praise on the Liverpool forward, and said he was outstanding on the night.

“Darwin Nunez with a major part in the goal other than his finishing tonight he has been outstanding,” Sutton said.

He then went onto praise the Uruguayan for the role he played in setting up Luis Diaz for Liverpool’s fourth goal.

“He bends his run and whips in a wonderful cross in to Luis Diaz – six yards out he gets in front of Benoit Badiashile powering the ball in.”

We agree. Nunez was his usual best. Full of energy and constantly running at the Chelsea defence. Surely, it’s only a matter of time until the goals start flowing more freely as well. The 24-year-old was woefully unlucky at times tonight.
