Liverpool once again put in a top performance last night against Bournemouth. Coming up against an in-form Bournemouth away from home – nobody will have expected a 4-0 thumping. But Jurgen Klopp’s men once again proved just why they are in the title race at the moment.

Some of the individual performances were simply sublime. Of course, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez will grab the headlines for their two braces, but there was more to be said about some of the other players as well.

There was one in particular who Jurgen Klopp was especially pleased about. And speaking in his post-match interview waxed lyrical about him.

Jurgen Klopp on Alexis Mac Allister

Speaking in his post-match press conference as per Liverpool’s official website, Klopp was really pleased about Alexis Mac Allister’s performance. He was even more pleased to hear Mac Allister’s name highlighted by journalists.

“Thank you for mentioning that. Sometimes people forget that because in the second half we scored the goals,” Klopp said.

“Absolutely exceptional performance, I have to say. I’m so happy for us, obviously, but for him as well, he’s a really good footballer, let me say it like that. Defensively did a good job and offensively he is anyway a super-important player for us, he was calm on the ball, all the good things in the first half already happened with him. Yeah, really happy.”

That’s high praise from Klopp. But it’s no surprise. Alexis Mac Allister was sensational against Bournemouth. He probably produced his best performance in a Liverpool shirt yet. In this kind of form, he showed he is simply unplayable.

The way Mac Allister was able to control the midfield and dictate the tempo of the game was special. Hopefully, there is much more of this to come from the 25-year-old.
