Tyler Morton has given an insight into Liverpool teammate Fabio Carvalho’s time at Hull City so far.
Having spent a disappointing first-half of the season at RB Leipzig from Liverpool, things have been going better for Carvalho at Hull. Praised effusively by manager Liam Rosenior, the 21-year-old already has first goal, coming on only his second appearance.
That goal was assisted by Morton, who’s been excellent all season long on-loan from the Reds.
And speaking to The Athletic today, the Liverpool midfielder had some gushing words for Carvalho.
“Fab’s class to have around and, even though he’s about my age, he’s still great to learn from,” says Morton. “I hope the young lads here watch him and how professional he is.
“He looks as though he’s been playing in the Premier League all season. He’s hit the ground running. You can tell he’s got grit between his teeth.”
Morton praises Carvalho impact
This could of course be simply the case of a young player bigging up his mate who’s gone through a bit of a tough period. But either way, it’s nice to hear.
After what happened at Leipzig, Carvalho is badly in need of feeling a bit of love between now and the end of the season.
If Hull can get him settled and playing well, then he should still have a future at Liverpool.
In terms of starts, it’s certainly been up there for Fabio. Not only did he get that early goal to truly kick-off his time at Hull, but it was an excellent goal, too.

It also gave the Tigers three points on the road at Sunderland. That’s the way to get your new supporters on-side.
In theory, Carvalho should be a cut above where he’s playing right now. The Portugal U21 international lit up the Championship as a teenager. Now with experience of a top team, the Premier League, Champions League and also the Bundesliga, things should come even easier for him.
It doesn’t always work like that, though. That’s why Morton’s words are so encouraging. Carvalho sounds like he’s taken the drop back down in level on the chin and is ready to work hard to prove himself again.
That’s the kind of attitude Jurgen Klopp will love to see. Keep it up, Fabio.
