So far the biggest January deal Liverpool have made this month was not an arrival but a departure instead.

The club recalled Fabio Carvalho after a difficult six months at RB Leipzig earlier on in the month, and several days later sent him out on loan again to Hull City. It’s early days, but this transfer could work in the Reds’ favour.

Carvalho desperately needs to get his career back on track, and Hull City seems like the perfect destination for him to do that. It’s a club that’s on the rise, playing exciting football at a competitive level in the Championship.

Mostly importantly, it’s a club where the manager has absolute faith in Carvalho. Something that’s hugely important for a player who has been sitting on the side-lines for far too long.

Liam Rosenior on Fabio Carvalho

Speaking to Sky Sports, Hull City manager, Liam Rosenior, praised Carvalho not just for his qualities on the pitch but off the pitch as well. He also revealed the synergy between them.

“I drove down to London from Hull to meet him. And literally, from the first moment we met in person I knew he was going to sign for us. Because there was a connection between us and I think you need that between a player and a coach,” Rosenior explained.

“I think Fabio, the way that he trains, the way he conducts himself, his humility. Even in the last ten days we’ve been together, he does things that I love. We get off the team coach and he wants to tidy up the team coach. He’s in the dressing room yesterday, he’s not part of the squad, because he couldn’t be registered, travelled with the team – the team are going out to warm up and he’s putting peoples flip-flops back in their place. He sums up the culture of what I want. It’s not just about ability on the pitch, it’s about your human quality and that’s massive for me.”

Rosenior then concluded that he is really excited to have Carvalho in the team.

“Fabio is going to be huge for us. I am so excited just to have him in our team for the rest of the season because I think our style of play, he fits, our culture and our value fits, and if that happens with an outstanding player then you should get outstanding performances as well.”

These are exactly the comments you want to hear. Carvalho’s time at Hull City has the potential to be really promising. And we hope he can get back to playing football, and thriving on the pitch once again. He’s still 21-years-old and has a bright future ahead of him.
