RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schroder has aimed a dig at Fabio Carvalho after the Liverpool youngster returned to England this winter.
The Portuguese youth international was recalled by the Reds after hardly featuring for the Bundesliga club this season, with Carvalho since joining Championship side Hull City on loan.
The 21-year-old is regarded as one of Liverpool’s most exciting prospects and a player who could become a superstar for Jurgen Klopp’s side if his development can get back on track.

Yet speaking to RB Live, sporting director Schroder was critical of Carvalho’s character during his time at Leipzig, with the Bundesliga official not a fan of how the youngster responded to competition.
The German transfer chief said: “Fabio has a great character. But he realised ‘Okay, there’s a competitor here, I have to do more!’ And we noticed that he didn’t want to fight.
“We asked ourselves the question ‘Do we feel more comfortable with him fighting’ or are we clear and straight and say ‘Listen, if you don’t want to fight, we will end the loan.’ You shouldn’t be afraid of competition.”
RB Leipzig loan should be a wake-up call for Fabio Carvalho

Carvalho’s time in Germany couldn’t have gone any worse, with the youngster hardly featuring for Leipzig and losing precious months in his football development.
Yet after Schroder’s comments, it’s clear that Carvalho’s time in the Bundesliga must be viewed as a wake-up call heading into this latest loan spell with Hull.
As we know, the Liverpool prospect has the potential to become a superstar if he can get his head straight and hit the ground running in the Championship with the Tigers.
And Carvalho’s lack of effort in Leipzig must be transformed at Hull, where the winger could become a sensation yet again if he can get his head up and find some form.
